The Veterinary Association of Zambia
Dr Mudenda has been a small and exotic animal practitioner for the past 19 years at the University of Zambia, Veterinary Clinic. She has worked for the University of Zambia in the School of Veterinary Medicine since she graduated as a veterinarian. Other than working as a clinician, she is also a lecturer for clinical year students. She holds a Masters of Science in Wild Animal Health from the Royal Veterinary College in London as well a Phd from Louisiana State University.
She served as Secretary of the Veterinary Association of Zambia for two years after which she became the President of the Association, a position she still holds. In this capacity, she has been part of several technical working groups at national level which dealt with legislation regarding public health and veterinary pharmaceuticals as well as helping with the drafting of local and national policies for zoonotic infections like rabies.
To help curb the spread of rabies and control of the dog population, Ntombi has been involved in the organisation and participated in mass rabies vaccination campaigns in resource-poor communities as well as mass neuter/spay campaigns.
Dr Mudenda also sits on various Boards in Zambia, notable among these being the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority, Graduate Women Zambia and Zambian Institute of Leadership.
