Dr. Bambang Pontjo Priosoeryanto is a Certified Veterinary Pathologist, Professor and Head of the Division of Veterinary Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, IPB University, Bogor – INDONESIA. He is a DVM holder since 1984 and Master in 1990 from the same university. His Ph.D degree was awarded from the United Graduate School of Veterinary Sciences, Yamaguchi University Japan in 1994. Dr. Bambang is specialized in animal cancer and degenerative disease as well as infectious diseases in various animal species. As a university professor, he is active in the issues of higher education and served many committees in the professional veterinary education in the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education and now he is the Vice Secretary-General of the Indonesian Forum for Scientific Professional Organizations (FOPI). He is a Director of Animal Health Professional Certification Institution, National Professional Certification Bureau. As a veterinarian, he also very active in the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA) and served as a Vice President for 2 terms with responsibility for the scientific, competency, accreditation, certification and veterinary education issues. He served as the Chairman of the National Committee for the Indonesian Veterinary Competency Examination for 2 terms (8 years). Besides active in national and international professional organizations he also served as a member and vice-chairman of the National Expert Committee on Animal Health and Veterinary Public Health Ministry of Agriculture The Republic of Indonesia for 15 years and also served many years as a member of Animal Quarantine Expert Committee Ministry of Agriculture, member of National Fish Quarantine Expert Committee Ministry of Marine and Fisheries, member of National Wildlife Disease Expert Committee Ministry of Environment and Forestry. He served more than 10 years as a Vice-Chairman of the National Committee on the inter-ministerial Task Force on Mad Cow and human CJD. As a veterinary pathologist, he is very active in the national and international veterinary pathology associations; he served two terms (ten years) as a president of Indonesian Society of Veterinary Pathology (ISVP) and one term (2 years) served as a president of Asian Society of Veterinary Pathology (ASVP). He worked a lot in herbal medicine and he is an active researcher at the Tropical Biopharmaca Research Center IPB University. He is a Diplomate of Asian College of Conservation Medicine (AACM) and active as a member. Dr. Bambang served several positions in the Federation of Asian Veterinary Association (FAVA) since 2012 and at present, he is a Secretary-General of FAVA. Dr. Bambang begins to serve as WVA Councillor for International Regional Organizations from 2020 to 2022.
